Workshops and Presentations

I am available to run workshops and presentations as follows:

Introduction to Kantha Stitching - 1 day workshop - learn the history of Kantha stitching and its origins in India, the stitches, and produce an item of your choice either as an embroidery or other decorative item such as a scarf or cushion cover.

Introduction to Boro stitching - 1 day workshop -  learn the history of Boro stitching and its origins in Japan, and create a sample of pieced fabric in the Boro style which you can use to make a bag or other decorative item.

Presentation: The Underground Railway - Myth or a route to freedom using patchwork? - 2 hours presentation

From Idea to Creative Reality - a journey into setting up a handmade business? - 90 minutes presentation.

As Material Girls, we have open courses in patchwork and quilting - from taught beginners courses to social sew-alongs.

We will also run bespoke workshops for organisations from half-day to all day sessions on bag-making, cushions, table runners or the organisation's choice.
